A man has been arrested by Nagaland Police for allegedly issuing fake Covid-19 test reports to travellers travelling to Manipur from Dimapur's Blue Hill Bus Station area. Mohammad Samsung has been recognised as the person arrested (39).

In a statement issued on Friday, Dimapur DCP (Crime) and PRO said it on January 22, police received information that fake Covid-19 test reports were being given to passengers travelling to Manipur from the Blue Hill bus terminal area here.

A police team disguised as passengers was sent in search of a negative Covid-19 test report.  He arranged two false Covid-19 test reports within an hour for Rs 500 per person. He was arrested as a result, and a complaint was lodged under the Disaster Management Act of 2005.

The accused admitted that he used to take passengers' Aadhar cards and money. Then he'd go to Lahorijan, Assam's Karbi Anglong district, which borders Dimapur, and pay a commission to testing centre workers stationed there, arranging for a bogus Covid-19 test report without the travellers being physically tested. The case is being investigated, and all parties involved are being thoroughly investigated, according to police.
