New Delhi: The battle for train tickets in the country is well known. The major problem of the passengers is that they cannot get confirmed tickets. For this reason, people often get seats confirmed under VIP quota through fake letters of MPs. The Railway Ministry had been deeply troubled by this problem. So they have changed the rule. The ministry has asked MPs to send a copy of their official letterhead for tickets. By which letters with fake signatures can be identified.

The Ministry of Railways maintains a five percent quota for VIPs in almost all major trains. These include Union Ministers, Supreme Court and High Court judges, MPs, MLAs, etc. If they do not get a confirmed ticket to go somewhere suddenly, then they request the Railway Ministry to get it confirmed under VIP quota. They have also been urging relatives and acquaintances with themselves. The ministry has been troubled by the same MP receiving multiple requests for letters on the same day.

Such letters are either not signed by the MP or a letter of request is sent with the signature of another person. That is why the Ministry has tightened the rules for VIP quota. In a letter sent to MPs on September 6, Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi said that we have many times caught letters written on fake letterheads or fake letterheads of MPs. Railways have asked the MPs to send their requests with letterhead signatures while making changes in the process. In every letter, it will be necessary to write the identity card number of the MP, telephone number of their office and mobile number of their personal assistant.
