Kolkata: A case of the fake vaccine has also come to light amid record vaccination across the country. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday (September 1, 2021) raided 10 locations simultaneously in Kolkata, West Bengal in connection with the fake vaccine scam. In this case, the investigating agency has registered six cases including hoarding of vaccines, black marketing, and spurious drugs. Several persons have also been questioned.

In fact, on July 3, 2021, an investigation team of the SIT team raided the house of Fake IAS Officer Debajan Deb, who runs a fake vaccination center in Kolkata. Accused was arrested by Kolkata police after the case was reported. Police had recovered a lot of goods during this period. This included the attendance register, visitor slip, job application, and fake tender documents.

During interrogation, the accused had told the police that he was injecting pneumonia into people instead of the Covishield vaccine at the corona vaccination center. Debanjan Deb used to print the graphics of the Covishield vaccine and apply it on the vial of the vaccine. Earlier last year, he also started a sanitizer business. The links with its TMC leaders are currently under investigation.
