New Delhi: The Central Government has organized programmes in New Delhi today to mark Constitution Day. President Ram Nath Kovind and PM Narendra Modi are also present at the function held at the Central Hall of Parliament House. More than a dozen political parties, including Congress, have shied away from the Constitution Day event.
PM Modi begins his address by bowing to Mahatma Gandhi and Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, PM Modi said that this Constitution Day should also be celebrated because we can evaluate whether our path is right or not. Our Constitution is not only a collection of many streams, but our Constitution is a modern expression of the great tradition, unbroken stream of thousands of years. He said that national interest was at the top of the constitution-making people only when the Constitution was framed. PM Modi hit out at the Congress without naming it and said there is a problem from Kashmir to Kanyakumari today. Family political parties have become a matter of concern for the country. He said family parties do not mean that more people than one family do not come to politics. Family parties mean that the reins of the party are from generation to generation in the hands of the people of the same family.
PM Modi hit out at opposition parties saying that the event was not organised by any government but by any Prime Minister. Rather, the event was organized by the Lok Sabha Speaker, who is the pride of the House. PM Modi said it was the 125th birth anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar. We all thought that what could be a greater occasion than this that we always remember Babasaheb Ambedkar in the form of a memorial book as a tribute to this country. This day is to bow to this house.
