Family to get 35 lakh if jawan dies CRPF on duty

New Delhi: If a CRPF jawan dies while on duty, his family will now get financial assistance of Rs 35 lakh instead of Rs 21.5 lakh. Media reports quoted a senior CRPF official as saying about the decision. The department has also taken several major decisions in other cases related to jawans.

In other cases, the risk fund has been changed to Rs. Financial assistance for the marriage of the daughter or sister of the martyred jawans has been increased to Rs 1 lakh. Preparations were already underway to increase the amount of financial assistance to the families of all Central Armed Police Force (CRPF) jawans from November. The Home Ministry gave the green signal to the proposal to increase the amount to Rs 35 lakh.

Earlier, in CRPF, the risk fund ranged from Rs.21.5 lakhto Rs.25 lakhs, which was earmarked by the Directorate General. Similarly, the risk fund for the families of martyred CISF personnel posted at most of the airports was Rs. If a jawan of the ITBP guarding the Indo-China border was martyred on duty, it was Rs.25 lakhs.
