New Delhi: Noted sitarist Pandit Devbrata Chaudhary (Pandit Devabrata Chaudhary) passed away today at a Delhi hospital due to corona virus infection. His son Pratik Chaudhary has given information in this regard. He was 85 years old. Pratik, popularly known as Debu Chaudhary, shared the death of his father on his official Facebook page.
He further wrote, "My father, the legend of sitar, Pandit Debu Chaudhary... No more. He was admitted with covid as well as dementia complications and was placed on ventilator in icu around midnight today. After which he suffered a heart attack and could not be saved.... Despite all the efforts and prayers, he could not be saved". The sitarplayer's family consists of his son Pratik, daughter-in-law Runa and granddaughter Rayana and grandson Adhiraj.
A message of crisis (SoS) about his fragile situation was also shared on Twitter. After a message from his fans, Chaudhary was admitted to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital. He was later kept in ICU, but his condition deteriorated. One of India's eminent sitarists, Chaudhary was from the Senia gharana of music. He was awarded padma bhushan and padma shri.
