Fan touches the highest weekend grosser of 2016, yet failed to cross Shahrukh's last release

Shah Rukh Khan films often create a remarkable weekend opening, and this time SRK’s most awaited film of the year Fan hit the screen last Friday, closing at over Rs 50 crore. The only solace is that it has turned out to be the highest weekend grosser for any film in 2016 as of now.

But however, King Khan failed to live up the mark his last releases, as his last release Dilwale had made around Rs 65.09 crore in the opening weekend itself, and Happy New Year made around Rs 69.42 crore in the first weekend, according trade analyst Atul Mohan.

Fan is certainly not a conventional Shah Rukh Khan potboiler, however the film did see a long weekend, releasing on a Friday that happened to be a holiday because of Ram Navami.
