New Delhi: The Ugrahan faction of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) applauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement to repeal three contentious farm rules on Friday, November 19.

Narendra Modi announced the three agriculture laws will be repealed in the upcoming Winter session of Parliament in his address to the nation on Guru Nanak Jayanti.  "On the occasion of Gurupurab, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a fantastic decision," Joginder Singh Ugrahan, the leader of the BKU's Ugrahan faction said.  "Farmers' unions will sit together and decide the future course of action," Ugrahan stated in response to the prime minister's request to protesting farmers to return home.

The Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ugrahan), which is protesting at the Tikri border, is the largest of the protesting farmers unions. The BKU's Ugrahan faction has a considerable presence in Punjab.  Since last year, various farmers unions have been protesting outside the national capital's boundaries, demanding the repeal of three farm legislation.
