New Delhi: A 60-year-old farmer who was participating in the ongoing protests at the Tiki border against the new agricultural laws brought by the central government, was found dead in suspicious condition on Thursday evening. Giving information about the case, the police said that during preliminary investigation it has been found that the farmer's throat has been slashed with a sharp weapon. He is suspected to have been murdered. The police have started the investigation of the matter.
According to the police, the deceased's name is Hakam Singh, he was a resident of Bathinda. His body has been found lying in some fields behind the new bus stand being built on the Tikri-Bahadurgarh border. The body was first seen by a group of protesters. Bahadurgarh DSP Pawan Kumar says that through preliminary investigation it appears that the deceased's throat has been struck with a sharp weapon. This seems to be a case of murder. We have registered an FIR against an unknown accused under Section 302 (murder) of IPC.
The sister-in-law of the deceased has lodged an FIR in the Bahadurgarh police station of the city in this case. He has stated in his complaint that Hakam Singh used to do agricultural work and was taking part in the peasant movement along with others from the village along the Tikari border, but had returned home about 1-1.5 months ago. After this, leaving his village at 5 am on Thursday, he again joined the protest at the border. The same evening, he received information that the body of Hakam Singh had been found.
