In the Marathwada region of Maharashtra on Friday, a 30-year-old farmer allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself after his crop got washed away due to recent heavy rains, a police official said. Today morning, the incident occurred at Kader village in Omerga tehsil region.

Hundreds of acres of crops have been damaged due to heavy rain

Shivaji Jadhav the farmer hanged himself from a tree in the early hours, said S K Shaikh of the Omerga police station. He added a suicide note was recovered from the spot, which said that he was taking the extreme steps as his soyabean crop got washed away due to heavy rains. He was an unmarried farmer.

The heavy rainfall and the flood claimed several lives in Pune, Aurangabad and Konkan and Soya bean, cotton and sugarcane were damaged on a large scale in the Osmanabad, Latur, Solpaur, Nanded and Pandharpur (in Solapur) regions. also damaged crops on lakhs of hectares last week.
