Farmers forced to destroy their crops in Rae Bareli, due to 'Power Crisis'

Rae Bareli: As the corona epidemic weakens, normal life is slowly getting back on track, as well as the festive season. In such a situation, the deepening power crisis in Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a new challenge. At present, the shadow coal crisis on the Electric Thermal Project (NTPC) at Unchahar in Rae Bareli, considered to be a pioneer in power generation, is deepening. The power system is responsible for power from its four power plants in UP as well as eight in the private sector and about a dozen and a half plants in the NTPC.

The coal shortage has either shut down units of 6873 MW capacity or reduced their production. This has suddenly reduced the availability of power in the state. The power thermal project at Unchahar in Rae Bareli has a power generation capacity of 1550 MW. It has a power generation capacity of 210- 210 MW from units 1 to 5 and 500 MW of power generation unit. Two units have been shut down due to a shortage of coal. The rest of the units are being powered at half of their generation capacity to generate 779 MW of power. But there is a constant coal crisis. If this continues, then all the plants from one unit to the sixth unit will be closed.

On the other hand, the problem of farmers has increased considerably due to power outages. Being a paddy crop with high water consumption, farmers say, if the supply situation is not good, we will be forced to uproot the paddy crop. On the other hand, children are neither able to study at home due to overnight power cuts. Nor are they able to sleep at night, which is adversely affecting the routine of children. At the same time, electrical mechanics and small workers say that if the power situation remains the same, they will have to close their shops, institutions and find another job.
