Farmers Leave For Homes, Take Out Victory Parade To Mark End Of 15-month Long Protest

New Delhi: Farmers have ended more than a year-long agitation on Delhi's borders after the Centre's Narendra Modi government withdrew all three agricultural laws and are now returning to their homes. A large number of farmers agitating have left the borders. Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait has to say that he will leave only after everyone has left.

According to reports, Deepak Lamba, vice president of the Jan Kisan Andolan, a group of farmers, has written that about 80 per cent of the farmers have returned from the Singhu border. While about 50 per cent of the farmers from Ghazipur border have returned to their homes, 60 to 70 per cent of the farmers on the Tikri border have taken the path of return.

While it is also being said that farmer leader Rakesh Tikait at Ghazipur border has said that the venue has been vacated, 'A large group of farmers will vacate the area tomorrow at 8 am tomorrow. Our farmer brothers have started returning home. I'll leave here on December 15.'

Earlier last month, on Guru Purnima, PM Narendra Modi in his address to the nation had announced the withdrawal of all the three new agricultural laws. After which a bill to withdraw agricultural laws has been passed in both houses of Parliament on the opening day of the winter session of Parliament on November 29. It was only after this move that most of the issues between the government and the United Kisan Morcha were agreed upon and the Front announced an end to its agitation on Thursday.
