Srinagar: On August 5, Section 370 was abolished by Jammu and Kashmir by the Center. With this, the state was divided into two Union Territories. After this announcement, the central government had arrested key political leaders of the valley. He is being released after the situation becomes normal. The police arrested the female members of the civil society protest against the government's decision yesterday i.e. on Tuesday.

Later, the police registered a case under sections 107 and 151 and sent them to the Central Jail. Farooq Abdullah is under house arrest. Women members of civil society gathered at Pratap Park, adjacent to Lal Chowk, on Tuesday morning, with placards bearing slogans in their hands, demonstrating the decision to remove Article 370 and to divide Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories. The protesters included Suraiya Mattoo, sister of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah and several women including Safia, sister of Omar Abdullah.

The women were arrested by the police when they tried to exit Pratap Park. For the first time, the deployment of a female battalion of CRPF to control any demonstration was seen here. Suraiya, sister of Farooq Abdullah, said that we women of Kashmir are opposed to the government of India repealing Articles 370 and 35A and dividing Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories. Our demand is that political prisoners should be released as soon as possible, civil liberties and fundamental rights of citizens in the valley should be restored, and the army should be removed from rural areas as well as urban areas.
