New Delhi: Rajasthan Royals (RR) pacer Jofra Archer will not be able to play in the opening match of IPL 2021. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has informed this on Sunday. Archer will return to England for treatment because of an elbow injury. He was involved in the five-match T20 series against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad. But the ECB said he had faced problems performing in the series due to injury. The ECB said in the statement that, "The board's medical team will oversee Archer, his return only after treatment."

Archer will not be able to play the opening match of IPL 2021. Archer, who had 20 wickets in the last IPL season at an average of 18.25, was Rajasthan's most successful bowler. England captain Eoin Morgan had also said after the fifth T20 that Archer's injury situation was deteriorating. He had said that "The injury to him is deteriorating. He needs treatment. Our medical team needs to take a decision in this regard."

After not being in the preliminary matches, Rajasthan Royals will be responsible for the most expensive player Chris Morris, they can be supported by Andrew Tye, Karthik Tyagi Jaydev Unadkat. At the same time, Ben Stokes Shivam Dubey Tom Kuran is present with RR as an all-rounder. In IPL 2021, Rajasthan Royals will start their campaign against Punjab Kings from 12 April. This time Rajasthan has given out the responsibility of captaincy to Sanju Samson by excluding Steve Smith.
