New Delhi: Just a short time ago, the fastag system being brought to toll plazas of national highways to get rid of long queues of vehicles will be implemented from 8 am on Sunday. However, the Central Government has so far given some relief due to non-release of RFID based fastag of all vehicles. Currently, instead of 100 percent on toll plazas, 75 percent of toll lanes will be deducted from fastag through electronic toll collection (ETC). On the remaining 25 percent lane, vehicles will be able to travel by paying toll manually.

Union Road Transport and Highways Ministry has asked the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on Saturday to maintain this system for the next 30 days. Earlier in July, a letter was sent to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on behalf of the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and ordered to convert all toll lanes to fastag lanes by December 1. On 29 November, the ministry gave 2 weeks more relief in this system and asked to implement this system from 15 December.

With which it was previously decided that one lane on the toll plaza would be kept as a hybrid (recovery from both manual and fastag) lane for movement of toll free vehicles and oversize vehicles. But at the same time, in the order given on Saturday, the Ministry has said that 25 percent of the total toll lanes can be used in hybrid mode on toll plazas carrying more vehicles. However, the order for charging double tolls on entering the ETC lane without fastag vehicles has not been changed.
