NEW DELHI: From February 1, the government will offer 25 lakh metric tonnes of wheat for sale through the open market sale programme, for which tenders will be submitted by Food Corporation of India (FCI) regional offices.

Buyers interested in purchasing wheat stocks can register with FCI's e-auction service provider, m-Junction Services Ltd, and bid on equities.

For any party wishing to register its name, the empanelment process would be completed in 72 hours.
FCI Chairman K.K. Meena revealed this at a news conference on Friday, saying that supplies are being given from all states to ensure that rising prices be swiftly controlled.

To address the country's rising wheat and atta prices, the government said earlier this week that FCI will make 30 lakh metric tonnes of wheat available in the market through various ways under the open market sale policy.

Within 24 hours of the scheme's launch, the FCI had begun the process of e-auctioning equities across the country.
Offloading 30 lakh metric tonnes of wheat in the market over the course of two months will have a broader reach and will help to contain skyrocketing wheat and atta prices.
