Varanasi: Recently students protesting for the appointment of Doctor Feroz Khan in the Faculty of Religion of Hindu University (BHU) of Banaras have continued their protest. There will be a direct conversation between BHU Vice-Chancellor and students today at 11 am. After this, the students will meet and decide the strategy ahead. Earlier, the BHU administration had assured to write a reply to the 5 questions raised by the students on the protest against the appointment of Muslim Professor in the Faculty of Religion within 10 days of the selection process.

According to the information received, the BHU administration gave this written assurance on the demand letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor that within ten days the answers to these questions will be made available to the faculty head. The agitating students have asked the Vice-Chancellor the first question, which short listing procedure of UGC has the university adopted in this recruitment process? According to the university constitution, the appointment process has been completed? Has this appointment been made by keeping the 1904, 1096, 1915, 1955, 1966 and 1969 Acts of the BHU Act at the center?

After the information received from the sources, the shortlisting has been done in the literature department of the Faculty of Sanskritology, Religion Science, as per all other departments of the faculty?  the short listing has been done keeping in mind the rules of Sanatan Dharma of the faculty? The BHU administration has promised to give written answers to these questions asked by the agitating students within ten days. Even after getting the assurance on the demand letter, the students have continued their sit-in.

Vice Chancellor appealed to the students: It is being said that the Vice-Chancellor issued a statement and appealed to the students to end their sit-in. Vice-Chancellor Rakesh Bhatnagar said, "There is no mistake in the appointment in the Department of Religion Science. Those appointed, he is a Sanskrit scholar and subject matter was accepted unanimously by the subject experts. Students come to BHU to study and they should be earned from wherever they get knowledge.

'Malaviya supports Feroz Khan's appointment': A report has revealed that Girdhar Malviya, grandson of BHU founder Madan Mohan Malviya, also supported the appointment of Doctor Feroze. BHU Chancellor Justice Girdhar Malviya has said that the students' protest against the teacher is wrong. He said, 'Mahatma (founder of BHU Madan Mohan Malaviya) had a wide range of thinking. If Mahatma were alive today, he would have definitely supported the appointment of Feroze Khan.
