New Delhi: The already-ongoing confrontation between the Buddhist and Kargil Muslim community in Ladakh has once again emerged. The latest case is about the tableaux on January 26. For the first time, the January 26 parade will have a tableau of Ladakh tableau in Republic Day 2021, which has now become a Union Territory. The Kargil people have objected that they have been overlooked in this tableau.

The statement was made by Firoz Ahmad Khan, chairman of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil. He has written to Union Territory Lieutenant Governor R.K. Mathur. It says that the tableau ignores Kargil 'cultural and religious symbols'. "It is unfortunate that only one aspect of Ladakh is being shown," Feroz Ahmad Khan of the Hill Development Council wrote in his letter. While it should depict the rich and diverse religious-cultural heritage of Ladakh, it is further written that it is like understanding the people of Kargil as strangers.

Khan's side has further sought a change in the tableau. It seeks to include religious/heritage sites and cultural ethos of Kargil district. It is said that no one was discussed in Kargil before deciding the tableau. Khan said Ladakh is not only meant by Leh but also includes Kargil.
