Fierce fire breaks out in Lucknow's sanitiser warehouse

Lucknow: Sheetal Pharma located in Transport Nagar in Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow caught fire on Monday night. The fire spread rapidly as the sanitiser filled in the warehouse. The three-storey building also houses a warehouse of medicines and namkeen which caught fire. After getting the information, the fire personnel who reached the spot rescued the people trapped in the warehouse and started the relief work by breaking the walls from the JCB. During the fire, the entire area was rocked by the blasts. The fire, which started late Monday night, came under control Tuesday afternoon.

Badri Prasad Aggarwal, a resident of Krishnanagar, deals in medicine and snacks. He has an office and warehouse in Transport Nagar which had a stock of sanitisers, medicines and snacks. The workers were sleeping in the warehouse on Monday night. Employees were frightened to see smoke and flames rising from the warehouse at around 12 pm. Efforts were made to control the fire by throwing water. Meanwhile, the fire spread rapidly due to the sanitiser. Due to which the warehouse workers got trapped inside.

FSO Shivram Yadav arrived with the team from Sarojini Nagar Fire Station and opened the main gate and quickly escorted the employees with the help of the team. As soon as the warehouse workers came out, there was a blast in the drums of the sanitiser which caused chaos. After receiving the information, fire engines were called from other fire stations including Alambagh, PGI and Hazratganj. CFO Vijay Kumar Singh arrived. Dozens of fire engines were engaged in fire fighting. With the help of JCB, the walls of the godown were broken. After over 12 hours of hard work, firefighters were able to control the fire on Tuesday afternoon.
