London:  England finished their Football World Cup preparations in impressive manner by contentedly defeating Costa Rica 2-0 at the Elland Road stadium.

English football Manager Gareth Southgate made 10 changes from Saturday's win against Nigeria at Wembley .He was rewarded with some fine individual displays and a commanding team performance in their final friendly match on Thursday before they leave for Russia, as the BBC reported.

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford was the prominent performer, pressing his World Cup claims with a wonderful first-half strike to put England ahead and frightening the whole time.

Raheem Sterling may still be favorite to launch with Harry Kane in England's attacking format in Volgograd, but Rashford, 20 year old, has demonstrated he has the temperament and class to make a decisive contribution in Russia.

It is noted that Rashford was a threat to Costa Rica from the first whistle, running at their defense with searing pace and mobility, capping it all with an excellent dipping shot that left goalkeeper Keylor Navas powerless.

He excited the hoping Elland Road mass with his running, and while he could not keep that momentum after the break, this was only to be anticipated as the rhythm of this friendly was broken up by a push of substitutions.

Worth mention here England will plays the first match against Tunisia on June 18. The others in Group G are Panama and Belgium.
