DOHA: France players goes into their World Cup semifinals against Morocco, since the favourites to repeat their place in the final from 2018, when they also won the title.

Didier Deschamps's team has the semifinal expertise they need to enter Wednesday's match at Al Bayt with confidence. The French previously advanced to the 2016 European Championship final, where they finished as runners-up.

Four players have broken World Cup records this year, highlighting the challenge the French present to opponents in addition to their stellar semifinal record.

Olivier Giroud, a forward for AC Milan and a front-runner for this year's Golden Boot, scored twice against Australia to tie the French record of 51 goals set by Thierry Henry. When he scored the first goal against Poland, he smashed the previous mark. Last Saturday, he expanded it to 53 with the winning goal against England.

With the two outstanding strikes he scored against Poland, Kylian Mbappe has now scored nine goals in World Cups, breaking a previous record. He surpasses Pele's seven goals by that age and becomes the first 24-year-old to attain that mark.

The fact that Mbappe, who is only 24 years old, has scored more goals in World Cups than Cristiano Ronaldo has in his entire career is terrifying.

Antoine Griezmann's two assists against England brought his total for the French national team to 28, breaking Henry's previous record of 27. However, the fact that Mbappe now has 18 assists suggests that one day that record will be his as well.
