New Delhi: India has stopped Asian Cup winner Qatar on the draw after a brilliant performance in the FIFA World Cup qualifier. The team lost the match to Oman in the first match. The Indian team, without captain Sunil Chhetri, came into the field and did not allow the Qatar team which won the Asian Cup in January this year to score a goal. Goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu shines as the star throughout the match and did not allow Qatar to score any goals in Group E match.

In the latest FIFA rankings, India ranked number 103, stopped world number 62 team Qatar on their own ground. There is no doubt that this is India's best result in recent times. With this, India has become the fourth team, against which Qatar's team could not score this year. Earlier this year Qatar's team could not score against Colombia, Brazil, and Argentina.

Same India has become the only Asian team that has not lost to Qatar this year. The last time India and Qatar met face-to-face, Qatar had defeated 6–0. The last time both teams met face-to-face in a World Cup qualifier was in September 2007. On 5 September India were beaten by Oman by two goals against one in Guwahati before playing a draw with Qatar.
