International Yoga Day :PM Modi performs asana in Ranchi

New Delhi: Yoga events are being held at various places around the world including India to mark the 5th International Day of Yoga. The Central Government, as well as all the state governments, are organising Yoga programmes. PM Narendra Modi participated in the Yoga programme in Ranchi which was attended by about 30,000 people. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Modi said, the importance of Yoga is the need to reach out to the villages and the poor, tribals from the cities.

The theme for this year's Yoga Day is 'Climate Action'. A Yoga programme was also held at Rashtrapati Bhavan where President Ram Nath Kovind urged to make Yoga an integral part of life. In Ladakh, ITBP jawans practiced yoga in minus 20 degrees Celsius. Several Union Ministers participated in Yoga programmes in different cities of the country. Home Minister Amit Shah practised yoga at Rohtak in Haryana. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar also practiced yoga at Rajpath. On the other hand, yoga guru Baba Ramdev gave mantras of yoga to people in Nanded in Maharashtra. BJP Executive Chairman JAYPEE Nadda, Union Minister Smriti Irani participated in the Yoga programme in Delhi.

On the occasion of Yoga Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke of the importance of Yoga to the people at a grand function at Prabhat Tara Ground in Ranchi. Prime Minister Modi said, it is time to take Yoga to villages. Addressing the function in Ranchi, PM Modi said, "Now we have to take the journey of modern yoga from cities to villages, to the homes of the poor and tribals. We have to make yoga an integral part of the lives of the poor and the tribals because the poor are the worst sufferer of the disease. '
