According to the Election Commission, polling to elect the successor of M Venkaiah Naidu will take place on August 6 and results will be announced same day. On August 10, Naidu's term will be up.

The 16th vice president of India will be chosen in elections that will be held on August 6, 2022, according to the Election Commission.

The election commission has also issued directives for Lok Sabha Secretary General Utpal Kumar Singh to be the Returning Officer for the election.

Up to July 19, 2022, candidates for the vice-presidential election may submit their nomination papers. On July 20, the nominations will be scrutinised, and on July 22, the final list will be released.

A certified copy of the electoral roll with the candidate's name listed on it, along with a nomination fee of Rs 15,000, must be submitted by eligible candidates, just like in the case of the election for President of India. In the event that an eligible candidate does not make the final list, the nomination fee will be returned.

On August 6, 2022, between 10 AM and 5 PM, a poll will be conducted for the forthcoming vice-presidential election; results are anticipated on that day.
