Former world champion Vishwanathan Anand finally returned to India on Saturday. He was stranded in Germany for more than three months due to travel related restrictions due to the covid-19 pandemic. Anand went to Germany to play the Bundesliga Chess League in February and was to return in March but due to the covid-19 pandemic worldwide. Travel related restrictions were imposed due to which sports activities were also affected.
On the Air India flight (A1-120) from Anand Frankfurt via Delhi, reach Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore at 1.15 pm. His wife Aruna said, 'Yes, Anand has returned. He said that he is happy to return to India. Aruna had earlier said, 'We are happy that Anand is returning after such a long time. They have to complete the separate habitat process and come to Chennai as per protocol.
A health department official said that the five-time world champion will have to live separately in the institute for seven days in case he is found negative in the investigation as per the rules issued by the Karnataka government and then he will stay home for 14 days. I have to be different.
