Supreme Court dismissed as withdrawn the Opposition's petition against Rajya Sabha Chairperson's decision over CJI impeachment bid, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley termed the Congress attempt as unarguable, saying RS Chairman's decision should not be subjected to judicial inquiry.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley trained a gun against the Congress after the petition filed by its MPs against Rajya Sabha Chairperson Venkaiah Naidu's decision to refusal of the impeachment notice versus Chief Justice of India Deepak Misra was dismissed as withdrawn by the Top Court.

Two Congress MPs on Monday took out their plea in the Supreme Court challenging rejection of the impeachment notice against CJI Dipak Misra by Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu.

After a 45-minute hearing, a five-judge bench headed by Justice A K Sikri pronounced that the petition dismissed as withdrawn.

Attorney General K K Venugopal contented that only 2 MPs of Congress have approached the Top court and six other parties, which had given a notice for impeachment, did not move the Supreme Court.

RS Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu had on April 23 dismissed the impeachment notice against the CJI given by seven opposition parties led by the Congress on five grounds of "misbehaviour".
