Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is launching the ambitious National Monetisation Pipeline in New Delhi today (August 23). With this, the government is aiming to list out its infrastructure assets to be sold over the next 4-years, said an official press release.

National infrastructure monetization (NMP) has also been designed to attract more investors to the country and encourage alternative financing for infrastructure assets. Moreover, the National Monetisation Pipeline book will be released in the presence of Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, Rajiv Kumar, CEO, Amitabh Kant, and secretaries of relevant ministries whose assets constitute the monetization pipeline.

In addition to providing visibility to investors, the National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) will also serve as a medium-term roadmap for the asset monetization initiative of the union government. The NMP comprises a four-year pipeline of the government's brownfield infrastructure assets. In the Union Budget 2021-22, the government laid a lot of push on asset monetization as a means to raise innovative and alternative financing for infrastructure and included a number of key announcements.

In the Union Budget for 2021-22, Nirmala Sitharaman had made a lot of significant announcements regarding asset monetization and stressed on the fact that the government is looking at innovative ways to raise finances.
