Finance Minister to present Budget for Jammu & Kashmir in Parliament

NEW DELHI: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Budget to Parliament on Monday. The Centre is expected to introduce a bill in the Rajya Sabha titled 'The Constitution (Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) Orders (Amendment) Bill, 2022'.

The second session of the Budget will begin Monday and will conclude on April 8. The Rajya Sabha is projected to have more than 64 hours to conduct legislative business in addition to debating issues of public concern during this portion of the session.

The Finance Minister will also present a declaration on the 'Supplementary Demands' for Grants to Jammu and Kashmir for the fiscal year 2021-22. She will submit an estimate of Jammu and Kashmir's revenue and expenditure for the fiscal year 2022-23. Sitharaman will also make a declaration in Rajya Sabha on the 'Supplementary Grants Demands' for 2021-22.

Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda will move that the Bill amending the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order, 1950 to remove the 'Bhogta' community from the list of Scheduled Castes in relation to Jharkhand and the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order, 1950 to include certain communities on the lists of Scheduled Tribes in relation to the State be considered. Munda will also make a motion for the Bill's passage.
