JAKARTA: Despite a steady increase in daily Covid-19 cases, G20 finance ministers and central bank governors will convene in Jakarta from February 17 to 18 for their first meeting in 2022 under the Indonesian leadership. Inflation, policy normalisation, and digitalization will be high-profile subjects covered at the first Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) conference to help G20 members recover their economies from the current condition.

"We'll also discuss the global financial market's development and stability. However, digitalization may be our main priority because it is what we need to revive our economy and accelerate the economic transition after two years of epidemic "Warjiyo made the remarks on the sidelines of the Jakarta Casual Talks on Digital Payment Innovation in Banking.

The FMCBG summit will take place in central Jakarta at the Jakarta Convention Center and the Gelora Bung Karno sports stadium. The conference will be preceded by a meeting of deputies from the finance ministry and the central bank on February 15 and 16.

Both meetings were originally set for Nusa Dua on Indonesia's popular resort island of Bali, but were changed to Jakarta because Indonesian authorities believe the capital city is significantly safer because to its high Covid-19 immunisation rate.
