Patna: An FIR has been registered against Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of RJD supremo and former CM Lalu Prasad Yadav and MLA from Hasanpur assembly seat. This case has been registered against Tej Pratap for not giving full details of the assets in the affidavit filed during the Bihar assembly elections. The Janata Dal (United) had filed a complaint against Tej Pratap Yadav in the Election Commission, after which an FIR has been registered against him at the Rosda police station.

Rosda police station in-charge Sitaram Prasad has informed on Thursday that a case has been registered against Tej Pratap on Wednesday based on the complaint of the then Returning Officer Brajesh Kumar. Lalu's elder son Tej Pratap Yadav is accused of hiding the details of assets in the affidavit filed in the Bihar assembly elections in 2020. In the application given regarding the FIR, it was said that in the 2020 Bihar elections, Tej Pratap Yadav had filed nomination papers as an RJD candidate from the Hasanpur assembly seat on 13 October 2020. Bihar JDU had complained to the Chief Electoral Officer about the concealment of information regarding the immovable property in the affidavit filed by Tej Pratap during nomination.

Subsequently, the Chief Electoral Officer sent a copy of this complaint to the Election Commission of India on 4 November 2020. From there a letter was written to the Central Board of Direct Taxes to investigate the entire matter. The CBDT, after examining these allegations, said that according to the affidavits filed in the 2015 and 2020 elections, there was an increase of Rs 82 lakh 40 thousand 867 in the properties, whereas till 2015-16 and 2016-20, according to the information of the Income Tax Department. According to this, it becomes 22 lakh 76 thousand 220 rupees.
