Guwahati: A woman journalist in Assam has accused a filmmaker and actor of assaulting and abusing her. The woman journalist has lodged a complaint with the police. A local man said on Sunday that the woman had arrived in a press dialogue on Saturday to announce the Hindi film ' Seven Sisters and One Brother ' by filmmaker Umashankar Jha and actor Uttam Singh.

The woman alleged that when she asked the producer some questions related to the film, the producer abused her. The woman said that after a while the female journalist and a photo-journalist went to question their behaviour, he pulled her (woman's) hand and assaulted her. The lady journalist has given a complaint to the all women's police station.

A police official said that the interrogation of the accused has been started. The Guwahati Press Club (GPC) in a statement condemned the incident and made a request to the police to take immediate action. GPC Chairman Manoj Nath and general secretary Sanjoy Ray said the club will give all assistance to the police in its investigation.
