Lucknow: Police in Mahoba district of Uttar Pradesh have registered an FIR against 23 Muslim youths for spreading enmity between communities on the basis of religion and hurting religious sentiments. According to the report of the Indian Express, these people are accused of serving non-vegetarian Biryani in a Muslim religious congregation without telling the Hindus. Police said that a complaint has been lodged after the intervention of local BJP MLA Brij Bhushan Rajput.
A police officer has said that the complainant agreed to give an affidavit to withdraw the case, but the MLA requested him to file a complaint. The incident took place on 31 August during the Urs in Charkhari police station area of the district, a religious congregation organized by Muslim residents of Salat village. According to the local people, the religious congregation is organized every year for the last six years in the local congregation.
Meanwhile, the BJP MLA said that when they got information about the incident, they asked the villagers to register an FIR. The MLA said, "An Urs (a Muslim congregation) was organized in Salat village. Hindus are in majority here, they take part in the event and even give donations. This year too, about 10,000 people from 13 villages came to participate in it. The MLA said that here Hindus were served rice by offering Baba's Prasad in which bones have come out.
