Chandigarh: Karnal police has taken action against 71 people for obstructing cm Manohar Lal Khattar's meeting in Karnal city of Haryana on Sunday. The police have registered an FIR against 71 persons in the case. The case has been alleged to have damaged public property.

On Sunday, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had a Kisan Mahapanchayat programme in Kamala village of Karnal. In this programme, CM Manohar Lal Khattar was going to interact with the farmers and tell them the benefits of the new agricultural laws. But the farmers who were demonstrating against the agricultural laws reached here before the chief minister came and started making a ruckus. The agitating farmers demanded that CM Khattar communicates with them. The security personnel stationed at Camala village tried to convince the farmers, but they did not accept it and their performance continued. Seeing the situation deteriorate, the police had to lathi-charge the farmers, but it worsened the situation rather than being controlled.

The agitating farmers captured the chief minister's platform and broke the bases. It was fiercely organically. The police lathis nephew on the farmers released tear gas shells and also showered water. This led to the capture of the helipad by the angry farmers, where cm Khattar's helicopter was to be landing. Seeing the situation deteriorate, CM Manohar Lal Khattar cancelled his programme at Karnal.
