A case of sexual abuse has been registered against a senior officer posted at Thiruvananthapuram airport operated by Adani Group. He has been suspended by the company after the case came to light. Thumba police station on Saturday registered an FIR against Chief Airport Officer (CAO) Madhusoodana Rao on the basis of a complaint by a woman employee working under him. Police said FIR has been recorded against Rao under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including Section 376 (rape). Police have said that the incident took place on January 4.

Police have told the media that 'we have some evidence against him. The operation is currently underway. However, the culprit is not here at his residence and his phone has also been switched off.' The complaint says, the accused invited the victim to his apartment and tried to molest her. Meanwhile, an airport spokesperson issued a statement confirming that a complaint of sexual harassment has been received from his employee.

He has said that the company has a zero-tolerance policy towards such behaviour. The spokesperson said, "We have received a complaint of sexual harassment from an employee of Thiruvananthapuram airport. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards such behaviour. The safety and betterment of all employees is our top priority and we are going to take this complaint very seriously. The criminal employee has been suspended from immediate service.'' According to the statement, the airport authority is seriously assessing the facts and is fully supportive of the investigation.
