The tourist area Khajuraho has been registered as the seventh hottest place in the country. At the same time, a maximum temperature of 40.4 °C was recorded in Jabalpur on Monday. The mercury was also recorded at 40.9 degrees Celsius in the state capital, Bhopal. It was also the hottest day of the season.

According to the information given by the Meteorological Department, more than 20 cities in Madhya Pradesh recorded a daytime temperature above 40 degrees Celsius on Monday. Khajuraho and Rajgarh remained the hottest cities. The mercury reached 43.2 degrees at both places. However, in the month of March last year itself, the temperature had crossed 40 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the Meteorological Department has predicted light rain in Chhindwara and Betul districts on Tuesday.

According to R Balasubrahmanyan, director of the Bhopal Meteorological Centre, the heat will increase further. At this time, the wind direction is south-west. Due to the breaking of the clouds, the sun has started shining. Solar radiation has also increased rapidly. Due to this, the day's temperature has increased. There are possibilities of similar weather in many parts of the state, including Jabalpur on Tuesday as well. Due to the western disturbance reaching the north-western part of the country, the weather patterns may change once again starting Wednesday.
