Lucknow: In Uttar Pradesh, there was a ruckus during nominations in Kasamanda block in the Thana Kamalapur area of the Sitapur district on Thursday. During the uproar over the stoppage of the rebel BJP candidate who was going to file his nomination, grenades went off and firing took place. There was a stampede after the incident. Police resorted to lathi-charge to control the people. There is tension in the area after the incident. Police are currently claiming to have controlled the entire situation. Three persons were injured in the incident.

The nomination process for the block chief's election was underway in 19 blocks of the district on Thursday. Meanwhile, BJP candidate Guddi Devi left the block after filing her nomination in the Kasamanda block. Independent candidate Munni Devi is said to be going inside the block to file her nomination after some time when she was stopped. Munni Devi was reportedly stopped by Guddi Devi's supporters. Munni Devi was demanding a ticket from the BJP itself. But when she did not get the ticket, she was going to rebel and file her nomination as an independent.

This led to a debate between the two groups. The matter escalated during a talk and soon the firing started. Grenades also fired amid several rounds of firing. This created chaos on the occasion. People started running around. Some policemen present at the spot were also seen fleeing with their lives saved after witnessing the incident. However, the matter cooled down in no time. Police also resorted to lathi-charge on the mob to control the situation.
