First budget session of Maharashtra government starts from today

Mumbai: The first budget session of the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray-led government has started from today and it will continue till March 20. The opposition (BJP) has boycotted the traditional tea party organized by the government on Sunday before the budget session. On the first day of this session, the government will start giving benefits of loan waiver to the farmers. After the Cabinet meeting on the eve of the budget session, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has announced this. A total of 6 ordinances and 13 bills are to be introduced in the budget session. In which the opposition has been preparing to surround the government on all the issues like increasing crime against women, farmers loan waiver and cancellation of decisions taken by the previous government.

After a cabinet meeting at the Sahyadri Guest House on Sunday night, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray stated in a press conference that 'direct benefits of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Kisan Karjamukti Yojana will start getting to farmers from 24 February. In which the list of eligible farmer-beneficiaries from 2 villages i.e. 68 villages will be released on February 24 in the first phase. After this, the lists will be released from 28 February. In which all farmers will be given the benefit of loan waiver by the end of April.

The BJP and its allies boycotted the Chief Minister's Tea Party on the eve of the budget session. Devendra Fadnavis said that the invitation for tea is for better dialogue, but Shiv Sena, Congress, and NCP need to improve the dialogue first. Chief Minister Thackeray said, "I do not consider it necessary to answer all the questions of the opposition, because no good opposition is proved by just making allegations. The opposition should play its role properly." He took a dig at the opposition and said that his government is not a day-counting government, there is a stable government and the same thing is not visible to the opposition.
