Mumbai: The coronavirus cases are increasing rapidly in the country. According to experts, SARS-CoV-2 a major risk to pregnant women. One such case of Mumbai has come to light. A miscarriage in the trimester left the woman agitated. In the test, it was found that the infection of the corona reached the fetus via the umbilical cord and placenta.

A study released last week by the National Institute of Research in Reproductive Health (NIRRH) in collaboration with the Employees' State Insurance Scheme (ESIC) Hospital in Kandivali has found that this is the first case in India in which corona infection occurs after two weeks survived in tissue, but was removed from the throat. The risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection can be gauged from the fact that it not only remained alive in the body, but it also increased the consistency of virus inside the body and later it damaged the womb of the woman.

This paper has been uploaded on MedRxiv on 22 August, an online website that prints medical and scientific research papers. There is a security guard in the women's hospital. When the woman was two months pregnant, she tested positive for corona. After this, when she got tested five weeks ago, when she was 13 months pregnant, she was completely healthy. After 13 weeks, when she had a regular ultrasound, the fetus was found dead.

The ESIC hospital approached NIRRH on the basis of suspicion that it was a case related to Corona, after which the hospital committee tested the woman. Giving information related to NIRRH, Deepak Modi said that "We re-tested the woman's nasal swab to detect corona infection, but her report came negative. After this, the woman's placenta, amniotic fluid and fetal membrane were tested. We were surprised to know that five weeks after the infection, the virus was increasing its numbers in the placenta".
