Shimla: The first case of omicron variant of covid infection has been heard in the state ahead of PM Narendra Modi's visit to Mandi. A woman from Mandi has been found infected with the omicron variant. The woman had reached Mandi from Canada and had just been isolated at home. PM Narendra Modi is on a visit to Himachal on Monday during which PMO has sought information after the case of Omicron Variant came to light.
According to reports, Chief Medical Officer Mandi Dr. Devendra Sharma has said that such information has been received. The official confirmation will be made by the Chief Secretary. The woman is said to have returned from Canada a few days ago and was sampled at Ripon Hospital in Shimla.
As per the information received so far, the covid report of the woman was found negative on 24th December. Hemraj Bairava, Managing Director, National Health Mission said that 7 samples (Mandi 4, Hamirpur 1, Shimla 1, Kangra 1) have been sent to Delhi for examination.
