New Delhi, First dengue death has been reported in the Capital with a 17-year old succumbing to this vector-borne disease on July 21.

On Tuesday, the confirmation about the dengue related death has come in with senior health officials stating that the death has been reported by the city's Lok Nayak Jaya Prakash Hospital.

The deceased has been identifyied as Farheen, resident of Jafrabad in north east Delhi, who died at the city hospital at 1:46 a.m. where she was undergoing treatment since a day before her death.

"She was admitted to the Delhi Government's Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital after witnessing dengue symptoms like fluctuating fever and vomiting", said father of the deceased.

The dengue has been confirmed by doctors after the patient tested positive.

"However, our daughter was just given an injection and left unattended later, because of which her condition deteoriated and she was later shifted to LNJP on the night of July 20. Though the doctors tried but she died the next morning," said the victim's father.

Delhi, till now has witnessed a total of 90 dengue cases marking a spike of 80 per cent over the last week.
