Arab Fashion Week: Saudi Arabia to host its first ever fashion week

Today fashion weeks are common things happening globally. It is a period of time which brings in excitement, news and loads of fashion. However, this time in Arab Fashion week is rolling down with a mixture of fashion, style and yes controversy. Famous fashion designers, Jean Paul Gaultier and Roberto Cavalli will be directing the fashion week and are already in Saudi Arabia. 

On Tuesday, the four-day fashion event rolled out. The event started two weeks later than originally planned. The Arab Fashion Week will bring together designers from Europe and Arab. It is going to include their kingdom’s own, ‘The Suitable Women’ line’s creator, Arwa Banawi whose fashion line has been widely loved and adored in the kingdom.

For the inauguration of the fashion week, Princess Noura Bint Faisal Al-Saud, who is the president of the Arab Fashion Council in Riyadh has brought together designers. These aced designers are influencers from Lebanon to Ukraine. The fashion week will be taking place at Ritz-Carlton which became infamous when hundreds of businessmen and royals were held in a state-sponsored corruption crackdown. 

Princess Noura in a statement said that the fashion has always an interest of Saudi Arabia. It has not been something that wasn't on the table or in the picture. Our fashion council is trying to bring the fashion industry in Saudi Arabia to a whole new level, a whole new industry.

The Riyadh shows unlike Dubai are not open to the cameras. The attendees strictly remain to women only. The Arab Fashion Week offers exclusive see-now-buy-now collections and pre-collections. The Second edition of the Arab Fashion Week is already scheduled in October.
