The first look at Muttiah Muralitharan's biopic '800' has been released on his 51st birthday. Actor Madhur Mittal, of Slumdog Millionaire fame, has also played the role of Muraleedharan. The first actor, Vijay Sethupathi, was supposed to play Muralitharan. Muttiah Muralitharan is the only bowler in the world to have achieved the milestone of taking 800 wickets in Test cricket. Muthiah has also taken 534 wickets in ODI cricket. In this way, he has the record for taking the most wickets.

The cricketer's movie is named after his total Test wickets. The script for 800 was written by MS Sripati, who is also performing the responsibility of directing. Actor Madhur Mittal is playing the role of Muraleedharan. Madhur played the role of Salim in the movie 'Slumdog Millionaire'. The movie is basically being made in Tamil and is going to be dubbed and released in Hindi and Telugu as well.

Muraleedharan's ancestors were from Tamil Nadu, India, who migrated to Sri Lanka to work as labourers in the tea gardens. This movie is not just about Muralitharan's records in his cricketing career. The movie is also a story of Muralitharan's struggle and courage. Speaking to 1 Media House, director Sripeeth said, "The movie tells how a common man, with his determination, hard work, and dedication, overcame all odds to become the number one bowler in the world. Muralitharan's personality in this movie shows many aspects of India, in which the ongoing turmoil in their own country has also been made the basis.

Talking about Muralitharan's cricket career, he also took 800 wickets in 133 Test matches. His best performance is nine wickets for 51 runs in an innings. How lethal his bowling was can be gauged from the fact that he took 10 wickets in both innings in 22 Tests. Muralitharan's record in ODIs has also been excellent. He has taken 534 wickets in 350 matches.
