First "Made in India" luxury electric car with an 857 km range launched

The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580, the country's first premium electric vehicle, went on sale today for INR 1.55 crore (ex-showroom). Days after the AMG version of the EQS 53 was introduced in the nation, the German automotive giant unveiled the third electric vehicle (EV) in its lineup. The EQS 580 was locally assembled, a first for Mercedes outside of Germany, and this allowed for extremely low pricing, even lower than those of the S Class luxury car. For the EQS 580, Mercedes-Benz has already begun taking reservations at a price of 25 lakh. In India, it will compete with luxury EVs like the Porsche Taycan EV and the Audi e-tron GT.

Mercedes anticipates that the EQS 580, its 14th locally produced model in India, will have a substantial impact on the company's goal of having EV sales account for one-fourth of total sales within the next five years. Mercedes-Benz India's Managing Director and CEO, Martin Schwenk, stated, “India is the first country outside Germany to manufacture the EQS 580 4MATIC, and this unique distinction underpins Mercedes-Benz India’s deep customer commitment and long-term vision for developing the luxury EV market here."

The S Class, which most recently received the World Sedan of the Year title for a best luxury car, is essentially the electric version of the Mercedes EQS 580, which was introduced to the world last year. Due to its projected performance capabilities, luxury, and zero-emission technology, the EQS can make the claim of being the best luxury electric car in the world.

The Mercedes EQS 580 has a four-motor setup with a motor on each axle and a 107.8 kWh lithium-ion battery as standard equipment. Based on ARAI certification, Mercedes claims that the EQS 580 will have a range of up to 857 kilometres on a single charge. Despite the fact that its actual range is probably shorter, it is currently India's longest-range EV. With a maximum power of 523 bhp and a peak torque of 856 Nm, it is also among the most potent EVs in India. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in about four seconds, which is a little bit longer than the AMG EQS 53's time of 3.5 seconds.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 has a 200 kW DC charging capacity, which implies that at a quick charging station, the EV can be recharged for 300 km in around 15 minutes.

Mercedes EQS 580 offers much more to justify its price tag than just excellent vehicle characteristics. The luxurious amenities that this car boasts of would be one of the main points of appeal. The largest and most noticeable of them is the enormous 56-inch MBUX hyper screen, which just debuted in India when Mercedes introduced the EQS with AMG performance. Essentially, it is a sum of three smaller displays that are utilised for the driver display, the central infotainment system, and the passenger display. Currently, it has the biggest in-car screen in the entire world. The high-end Burmester music system, massaging seats, and ambient lighting are just a few of the additional highlights.
