NEW DELHI: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal launched the first Startup India Innovation Week on Monday in New Delhi, bringing together the country's leading startups, entrepreneurs, investors, incubators, funding entities, banks, policymakers, and others under one roof to celebrate entrepreneurship and promote innovation.

From January 10 to 16, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) is hosting the first-ever Startup India Innovation Week. This virtual week-long innovation event, dubbed 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,' aims to mark India's 75th year of independence by showcasing the breadth and depth of entrepreneurship across the country.

Goyal said that his ministry can now recognise at least four businesses in an hour, and that the government has recognised over 60,000 startups so far. "We all should consider failures as stepping stones to success and should focus on three aims — developing Make-In-India, innovation, and mentoring the new talents," Goyal stated, inspiring young entrepreneurs, innovators, incubators, and financing agencies. Goyal, who shared data on the participation of companies from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, advised existing startups to mentor them and help them grow their unique ideas.
