The deputy chairman's election was held in the Rajya Sabha sometime back. NDA candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh took the lead in this election. While BK Hariprasad of congress faced defeat. In the meantime, prime minister Narendra Modi, who was overexcited by the NDA candidate's victory, had made a poor and controversial statement as he always gives in his public meetings to provoke and mislead the naïve masses.  His statement in the House created an uproar. Opposition MPs showed solidarity and complained to the chairman.

In this regard, RJD MP Manoj Jha objected to the Prime Minister's remarks and urged the Chairman to remove it from the proceedings. He has also issued a point of order against the PM's remarks. After which the Chairman also issued a directive to remove the statement from the House inquiry, assuming the statement as disputed. The Rajya Sabha secretariat informed that Prime Minister Modi's controversial remarks have been dropped. On this, Manoj Jha said that Prime Minister Modi had made this remark with objectionable and wrong intentions. He further claimed that this was the first time in the history that a prime minister's remarks had been removed from the inquiry.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's words were condemned by the opposition.  On the victory of NDA candidate Harivansh, Prime Minister Modi had said, "Now everything is up to 'Hari'. Hopefully, Hari's grace will remain on all of us. 'Hari' is associated with the names of candidates from both sides. In the election, both the candidates have Hari as their first name. The members expressed displeasure over his comments.
