New Delhi: This is the first time in the history of assembly elections in Delhi that there has been a record-breaking nomination for the election. At the same time, except for the first assembly elections of Delhi in 1952, so many leaflets were never filed in the last 27 years. As of 1473 nomination papers were filed with the Election Commission till 10 pm on Tuesday, 21 January 2020. The counting of nomination papers continued till late at night. Since 2008, there have never been more than 25 nominations in the elections of 2013 and 2015, but this time around 96 nomination papers have been filed. 66 pamphlets were submitted on Tuesday.

It is also being said that nominations were to be made for the 70 assembly constituencies of Delhi for the upcoming elections on 8 February 2020 till 21 January 2020. Now the Commission has given time to withdraw the name till 24 January. On the evening of 24 January 2020, the Commission will release the list of final candidates for Delhi elections. The election result is going to be announced on 11 February.
