Tehran: Iraqi President Ebrahim Raisi has refused to give an interview to an American woman journalist for not wearing a hijab. This case has come to light at a time when the issue of the hijab is hot in this Muslim country. In fact, anti-hijab protests have been taking place all over Iran since the brutal murder of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old young woman from Iran. Let me tell you that the Moral Police in Iran had beaten Mahsa Amini badly due to the hair seen from the hijab, after which she was brain dead and she went to coma, after which this 22-year-old woman died during treatment in the police service.

In the midst of this commotion, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's interview with CNN's chief international anchor Christiane Amanpour was proposed. However, the journalist's interview was cancelled after she refused to wear the hijab. Christiane has tweeted that she was asked to wear a headscarf (hijab), but she refused to do so. After this, the interview was suddenly cancelled.

Christiane waited for the Iranian president for 40 minutes for the interview, but he did not turn up. After this, the woman journalist was told that this is the holy month of Muharram, so she will have to wear a hijab. On this, the anchor said that we are in New York and there is no such law applicable here regarding hijab. No Iranian president has made such a demand before when she is conducting interviews outside Iran. But, his words were not accepted and the President of Iran cancelled the interview.

Will non-Muslims be forced to wear hijab?

However, the matter has sparked a new debate. People are asking, can a non-Muslim also be forced to wear a hijab in this way against her wishes? People on social media say that, in a country where a 22-year-old woman was killed for showing only hair from the hijab, why is the president still promoting fundamentalism? The cancellation of the interview by the Iranian President is being fiercely criticized on social media.
