Ahead of the highly anticipated ICC World Cup final clash between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, flight ticket prices from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad have surged significantly. Reports indicate an extraordinary spike in one-way flight ticket rates for early morning flights on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, soaring to nearly five times their usual cost.
Ordinarily priced at around Rs 5,700 to Rs 6,000, regular flight tickets from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad have now surged above Rs 30,000 for a one-way trip. This surge in demand due to the upcoming match has not only affected direct flights but also connecting flights through Mumbai, with prices exceeding Rs 16,000 for the next three days.
The increased demand for travel to Ahmedabad ahead of the match has led to a substantial escalation in flight ticket prices from other major cities as well.
In tandem with the surge in flight costs, hotel room prices in Ahmedabad and its vicinity have soared significantly, reaching levels nearly ten times higher than usual in anticipation of the India-Australia clash. Reports highlight that basic hotel rooms are now priced above Rs 10,000 per night, with some rooms commanding rates exceeding Rs 1 lakh per night. This sudden inflation in prices has prompted complaints from netizens.
According to sources, travel platforms like MakeMyTrip and Agoda witnessed a notable surge in searches for hotel stays in Ahmedabad. This surge in hotel prices echoes a similar trend observed during the India-Pakistan match held in October.
The impending clash between India and Australia in the World Cup final has not only heightened excitement among cricket enthusiasts but also led to an unprecedented surge in travel and accommodation costs, reflecting the immense anticipation surrounding the event.
