Flight fare from Chennai skyrocketing

Chennai: The air travel between Chennai to New Delhi generally costs Rs 3,000 to 4,000. Because now Diwali is near and the movement of people is increasing so now the expenditure of about Rs 7,000 to Rs 12,000 will be between Chennai to New Delhi. According to travel agents most of the bookings are for New Delhi and Mumbai, while people are also traveling to Bengaluru.

"The fares of New Delhi have skyrocketed and are between Rs 7,000 to Rs 12,000 and the fares are likely to increase further in the coming days. The fares to Mumbai are in the range of Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000" travel agent. Travel agents also said that Bengaluru fares have doubled from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,300 in the past few days and are more likely to increase in the coming days.

The travel culture has almost reached the level of pre-Covid days and most travelers are preferring flights because of the lack of leave from their offices, though most are working from home. The Travel Agents Association of India also attributed the hike in fares for Diwali with many passengers flying to Delhi and other north Indian states. But the fare has skyrocketed with a ticket from Chennai to Trichy costing Rs 7,000, which is almost the same fare from Chennai to New Delhi.
