New Delhi: Google's Pixel 7a smartphone will be available in India on May 11. With the launch of the next-generation model just days away, Flipkart is offering a significant discount on the Pixel 6a.The device is priced at Rs. 27,999 for the 6GB/128GB configuration. This raises the question of whether you should wait for the 7a or buy the 6a at a discount.

The Pixel 7a will have a top-centered punch-hole cut-out, an aluminium frame, an IP67-rated body, and an under-display fingerprint reader, just like the Pixel 6a.
However, the handset's back will feature a metal camera bar rather than a polycarbonate material. The smartphone will be available in the colours Coral, Charcoal, Snow, and Sea (light blue). Pixel 6a is available in Chalk and Charcoal.

The 7a, like the Google Pixel 6a, will have a 6.1-inch Full-HD+ (1080x2400 pixels) OLED screen. It may also include Always-on functionality and Gorilla Glass protection. When compared to its predecessor, the handset will have a higher refresh rate (90Hz vs 60Hz).

The Pixel 6a has a 12.2MP (f/1.7, OIS) primary lens and a 12MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide lens, as well as an LED flash. For selfies and video calls, there is an 8MP (f/2.0) front-facing camera. Meanwhile, the Pixel 7a will include a 64MP main camera and a 13MP ultra-wide camera.

The Pixel 6a features a Google Tensor chipset, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, Android 12, and a 4,410mAh battery. The Pixel 7a, on the other hand, will feature a Tensor G2 SoC, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage. It will run Android 13 and retain the same battery, but with wireless charging support.

The Pixel 6a is available for Rs. 27,999 (MRP: Rs. 43,999) on Flipkart, while the Pixel 7a is expected to be priced around Rs. 45,000. The latter will be a significant improvement over the Pixel 6a in terms of design, display, cameras, and even performance. If you have Rs. 45,000 to spend, we recommend you wait for the 7a.
